Woman Caught Speeding Through School Zone Had Suspended License, Yorktown Police Say

A woman who was allegedly caught speeding through a school zone had a suspended license at the time of the incident, according to Yorktown Police.

Yorktown Police pulled over 29-year-old Emily Zambrano of Peekskill on Lexington Avenue Thursday, Dec. 20 at around 11:10 a.m. 

Zambrano, who was identified via a New York State learner’s permit, was allegedly driving in excess of the posted 15 mph school zone speed limit. 

A routine NYSPIN check further revealed that the defendant had allegedly driven a motor vehicle while her license was suspended two times for failing to pay driver’s responsibility assessment and driving while ability impaired.

The subject was arrested and transported to Yorktown Police Department for processing. She faces the following charges:

  • Speeding in school zone, a traffic infraction
  • Unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, a traffic infraction
  • Aggravated unlicensed operation in the third-degree, a misdemeanor

Zambrano was released on her own recognizance. She is scheduled to appear in Yorktown Justice Court on Tuesday, Jan. 22.
